Wireless Internet in the Commons

Relax over a cup of Starbucks or a good meal from Main Street Café, and get connected immediately. Once you're connected, you can check your e-mail, surf the Internet, or get work done all at high speeds and in the comfort of the Commons.

The high-speed Internet access is up to 50 times faster than a traditional dial-up connection. All you need is a Mac or PC notebook computer, PocketPC, or TabletPC that is WIFI enabled.

Instructions for Accessing the Internet:

Users are primarily responsible for installing and configuring their own wireless devices.

Mac Users:

• Set your TCP/IP settings to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
• Your Mac will auto locate an IP address from the network.

PC Users:

• Users must configure their wireless network card or device to use ³pbwifi² as the SSID or network name. For instructions on setting the SSID on your wireless card or device, please check your product documentation or manufacturer¹s website or contact the technical support number listed in your device¹s documentation.
• Restart your wireless device to release and renew its IP address.
• Once your wireless device has finished restarting, open a web browser such as Internet Explorer. You should now have access to the Internet.

Security Notices:

To allow compatibility with a wide variety of devices, no security protocols (such as WEP, LEAP, PEAP) are enabled on this part of the Prestonwood Baptist Church wireless Internet connection. For this reason, some services such as Ping and Telnet are unavailable from this wireless network.
