What to Expect
A Warm and Secure Welcome
As you and your preschooler approach our Children’s Ministry Building, you will both be greeted by our greeters and security team who are there to help you through the entire check-in process. You will be handed an iPad to enter your family information. We will then print name tags for your whole family to enter our Children’s Ministry Building; everyone in the Children’s Building must have a name tag. You will then enter into a world focused on teaching preschoolers biblical truths. Once children are signed in at the age-appropriate classroom, they will enter into a positive experience of learning and fun planned just for them.
Activity Centers
Preschoolers are encouraged to participate in opening activities such as building with blocks, coloring a picture, working a puzzle, preparing a pretend meal, or reading a book. The teacher will use these activities to reinforce each weekend’s biblical truth.
Teaching Art Project
The children will create an art project to help reinforce the focus and theme of the lesson. Encourage your child to show you his or her craft and discuss the Bible verse and story.
Playground
For 15-20 minutes, your child will get to release some energy on our age-appropriate indoor/outdoor playgrounds.
Snack
A snack is provided for your preschooler during LifeGroup. The snack traditionally consists of butter cookies and water. Please inform your child’s teacher of any allergies during the sign-in process. Allergy Alert stickers are also available for your preschooler to wear.
Gathering for Group Time
Each classroom will have fun with songs, finger plays or games to help the preschoolers prepare for story time. Prayer is always a part of our group time.
Group time also includes Big Room time, a 20-minute worship experience in KidZone (ages 3 to young pre-kindergarten at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, older pre-kindergarten and kindergarten at 11:00 a.m. Sunday). Our 18-month-olds will travel to Tiny Praise each hour for an interactive worship experience.
Story Time
Your child’s teacher will tell the Bible story in a clear and meaningful way that is easy for preschoolers to understand. They will learn basic biblical truths they can apply to their preschool world. A Bible verse is always used to emphasize the theme and focus of the lesson. Pictures are often used by the teacher to tell the story, and brightly painted murals of favorite Bible stories are displayed on the walls of our Children’s Ministry Building. These are used on a regular basis to help a Bible story come to life.
Heading Home
When you pick up your child from class, the teacher will help gather your child’s belongings, art work and take-home page. The teacher will check your receipt and your child’s nametag for a match before releasing the preschooler into your care.
Family Time Take-Home Page
Each child will receive an age-appropriate activity page that includes the week’s Bible story, Bible verse and a related activity. You can read the story and the Bible verse with your child to help them understand the lesson and the verse. Save the “Family Time Take-Home Page” and use it during the week. This interaction with your child can be very rewarding for both of you.
