Operation Christmas Child

In 2017, Prestonwood enters its 24th year of church participation as well as serving as an Area Collection Center for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is the perfect holiday mission project for you, your family, your Bible Fellowship, school, or business as it focuses on the true meaning of Christmas—God's greatest gift, Jesus Christ.

What Is Operation Christmas Child?

Operation Christmas Child is an initiative of Samaritan’s Purse. Here at our church, the ministry falls under the umbrella of Prestonwood Cares. As a church family, we help to collect and pack shoeboxes filled with gifts and the Good News of Jesus Christ to be delivered before Christmas to children throughout the world.

How Can I Be Involved?

The most important way to help is to pray for this ministry, and then to purchase plastic shoeboxes (or use shoeboxes you have at home) and fill them with items on the list provided by Samaritan’s Purse. This year, there are two options for shoeboxes—original shoeboxes and special access shoeboxes.

Original Shoeboxes

These are the typical shoeboxes we’ve collected for years. Brochures on how to pack an original shoebox are available at the Operation Christmas Child Supply Station at the Main Street Booth (Plano Campus), in the Atrium (North Campus) or online at

Special Access Shoeboxes

Special access shoeboxes are a new initiative, sending gift-filled shoeboxes to hard-to-reach places that have little or no access to the Gospel. Brochures on how to pack a special access shoebox are available at the Operation Christmas Child Supply Station located at the Main Street Booth (Plano Campus) or the Atrium (North Campus).

Besides donating filled shoeboxes, volunteers are also needed to help collect shoeboxes and prepare them for delivery.
