Hurricane Harvey Response


We are blessed to be part of a church that truly loves people and shares the love of Christ to those hurting and in need. As we continue to solidify our plans to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey, please be aware of what we are currently doing and pray about how you can assist. Prestonwood Baptist Church and Prestonwood Cares remain committed to assisting Texans in Greater Houston and South Texas who are struggling with the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey. As such, there are areas of support that the Prestonwood community can get directly involved with, including:

Pray–Response updates will include specific prayer requests from those affected or serving in affected areas.

  • Pray for the Prestonwood Cares / Grace Bridge relief team that will be departing on Wednesday to serve small churches in and around the Beaumont/Port Arthur area.

  • Continue to pray for pastors and congregations from First Baptist Church (Houston), First Baptist Church (Groves), New Hope Missionary Baptist Church (Port Arthur), The Brook Church (Tomball), Triumph Church (Beaumont) and Brazos Pointe Church (Lake Jackson).

  • Pray for those struggling with destruction in the Caribbean, Florida and the Southern United States caused by Hurricane Irma.

Give– Prestonwood is committed to providing monetary assistance and donated supplies through individual and organizational support, including the following:

  • Designated monetary gifts to Prestonwood will be placed in a fund for disaster relief and aid. Any resources given to this fund will be set aside for direct relief expenses and trusted, like-minded organizations dealing with disaster relief. Click here to donate.

  • Prestonwood collection stations will begin accepting only new and gently-used clothing. Grace Bridge collection stations will accept clothing, shoes, furniture and other household items. Collection dates and times will be changing (see below):

Go–Prestonwood remains committed to providing assistance through individual and team support, including the following:

  • Volunteers are needed this Saturday, Sept. 16, at Grace Bridge in Celina and Frisco. Click here for information and to RSVP for this important opportunity.

  • Opportunities exist to join an upcoming relief team deploying locally or in the affected areas over the next few weeks. Click here for information on these and other opportunities.

  • Collection stations will be open this week through Friday (Grace Bridge) and throughout the weekend (Prestonwood), accepting only blankets, new and gently-used clothing, toiletries and hygiene products, cleaning supplies and baby items (diapers, wipes, formula and bottles). Please do not leave items during non-operating times. We will accept only those items listed above (no clothing, household items, furniture, or hazardous items—gasolines/oils, paint/stains, chemicals, fertilizer, electronics, batteries, etc.).

  • Volunteers are needed for Prestonwood Cares “Serve Saturday” tomorrow, Sept. 9, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Grace Bridge (402 S. Oklahoma, Celina) and Children’s Hunger Fund (11550 Newberry St., Dallas) for Hurricane Harvey disaster relief support. These are fantastic serving opportunities for individuals and families (with children ages 2 and above), as well as small groups and Bible Fellowships.   • Volunteers wanting to join Victim Relief Ministries teams in the affected areas must attend one of the upcoming training classes, to be held on Saturdays, Sept. 9 and 16, at 9:00 a.m. at the VRM offices at 970 S. Highway 5, Fairview. Click here for information on this training.
