Marti Callies
Voice
Before she was old enough to talk, Marti Callies sang. She spent hours playing the piano and singing in church and school choirs. She completed a bachelor’s degree in vocal music education from Southern Nazarene University, where she developed her love of the stage. She performed through artist programs in Hawaii and Europe after earning a master’s degree in vocal performance at Oklahoma City University.
Beginning students will appreciate her gentle approach to basic singing concepts. Ms. Callies is able to communicate on a number of levels, having worked with beginning students ages 7 through adult. More experienced singers will benefit from her wide experiences in opera as well as music theater.
Her past roles include Maria in Westside Story and Laurie in The Tenderland; soloist work includes Handel’s Messiah and Faure’s Requiem. She has toured the Southwest singing Contemporary Christian Music, and currently serves as Assistant Director of The School of Fine Arts.
