Veva Cockerell
Piano
Veva Cockerell has studied music since age 5. The piano has always been at the forefront of Veva’s musical endeavors. She was trained classically throughout her childhood and adult years. Veva also played the saxophone and bassoon.
Veva earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from McMurry University in Abilene in 1976. (She also took many post-graduate courses from Hardin Simmons University.) She then began a long career as a music teacher for students in grades kindergarten through eight. Veva was also an active choral director for many church-based youth programs. In her 25th year of education, she teaches third grade in the Lewisville ISD.
As a piano teacher for all beginning age levels, Veva believes that music is vital to enriching children’s education. Her goal is to encourage beginners to enjoy learning the basic fundamentals of music and to instill the love of music that will impact a child’s life forever.
