Ben Osborne
Trombone/Low Brass
Ben Osborne began his studies in music with the piano at age 5, eventually picking up the trombone at 12. He grew up in Lubbock, where he later received his bachelor's degree in music performance from Texas Tech University in 2002.
After a year of inner-city ministry in Chicago as a member of Mission Year, he completed two years of full-time study at Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a certificate of graduate studies. In 2007, Ben finished a master’s degree in trombone performance at Southern Methodist University where he studied with John Kitzman.
Ben has performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Austin Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Ballet Orchestra. He has also performed as a featured soloist with the Metropolitan Winds in the Meyerson Symphony Center.
The last two summers, he has served as a full-time music staff member of Camp-of-the-Woods, a Christian family resort in Speculator, N.Y.
Ben currently teaches 30 students throughout the Dallas area, conducts master classes and sectionals in public and private schools, and is an active freelancer. Ben is a member of the Prestonwood Choir & Orchestra, which helps lead worship during Sunday services.
