Katherine Tung
Piano
Dedicated to musical excellence and having played the piano since age 7, Kathy Tung performed and competed extensively during high school in local area piano competitions in Oklahoma, which led to performances with the Enid Phillips Symphony and the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra. She continued college music studies at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music with renowned artist Bela Siki, and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Washington. Kathy also studied in Victoria, British Columbia at the Johannsen School of Music under various internationally renowned artists in private music lessons and master classes. She also holds an M.B.A in Finance and Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
Kathy believes that music is inspirational, can be fun for kids, and opens a whole new world of expression for both young and old. While desiring to instill a love and appreciation for music, Kathy strives to teach her students methods for learning how to practice effectively so that each individual can properly develop God-given talents and share the gift of music with others.
Married for 18 years, she and her family have been active members of Prestonwood since 1987. In addition to instruction in piano and music theory for the past 7 years, Kathy also homeschools her children.
