A New Year of Serving

With the New Year came a wonderful opportunity for the men of Prestonwood North to share the love of Christ in a tangible way, serving in the poor, outlying areas of Acapulco, Mexico. Prestonwood North Pastor Marc Rylander led a group of 35 men to build churches, provide dental care and to share the Gospel the first week of the New Year.

“Since Tuesday, we have done construction work on two churches in villages outside Acapulco and have seen 165 professions of faith in Christ from home visits,” Marc wrote in his weekly e-mail to the Prestonwood North family.

“The fire of the Great Commission is consuming this team, and the results of changed lives bear witness to that. We still have one more full day of work and a crusade service on Friday evening. I believe God will allow us to continue to experience similar results as the trip winds down.”

Marc and the team were blessed to be able to meet with the wife of the Mayor of Acapulco. The two are strong believers with a mission to change the city by meeting people’s needs and spreading the Gospel.

But it was the townspeople, so desperate for something more, something better, who really touched the lives of the men. Families upon families received Christ after being presented the Gospel. Their lives were changed forever; as were the lives of the men serving.

And for the church family as a whole, Prestonwood North has been an incredible blessing as it reaches not only the U.S. Highway 380 Corridor, but beyond ... serving in a place whose beaches are visited frequently but whose people, longing for the Gospel, can be easily forgotten.
