Marc Rylander
Prestonwood North Campus Pastor

Marc Rylander never imagined he'd be a minister. Instead, he planned to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Ed Hogan, a longtime anchor and game show host on WFAA-TV (Channel 8).

As a boy, Marc would often visit his grandfather at the station, taking note of the way things operated, the hustle and bustle of the newsroom and the cadence of the anchors as they delivered the news. So after graduating from Lake Highlands High School, he headed to Baylor University with every intention of conquering the broadcast field.

But the Lord had other plans. During his junior year, Marc felt called to the ministry. Too late to change his major, he grabbed every religion elective he could. His senior year, he served as Music Minister at Abbott Baptist Church. Upon graduation in 1996, though he went to work at Baylor working with Dr. Robert Sloan in alumni and university relations, he took every chance he had to preach at revivals, youth camps and country churches. As an itinerate speaker, he'd go anywhere he could drive to in one day. It was at one of those preaching engagements that he would meet Lindsay Anderson, his future wife.

Though he took a sales job for a couple of years, Marc returned to his calling during that second year, in 1999, when he became Interim Pastor of a church near Decatur, Texas. From there, he served as Associate Pastor at a church in Abilene, overseeing the college ministry and missions. Combining his love for missions and preaching, Marc took a job in 2002 with a missions organization that helps train and equip pastors and lay leaders to do ministry work in third world countries. By the time he was 30, Marc had preached in every continent but Antarctica.

While serving in missions, Marc and Lindsay were committed members at Prestonwood Baptist Church. After hearing about Marc and learning of his passion and love for reaching the world for Christ, Pastor Jack Graham asked him to join the staff as Minister of Church Programming in 2004. Marc was named Associate Pastor in 2006. During that time, he assisted Pastor Graham with many of the daily functions of the church, discipling and training young ministers and seminary students, overseeing the deacon ministry and intern program, and running key special events at the church.

On Sunday, January 13, Pastor Graham announced during Worship Service that Marc had been named the new Prestonwood North Campus Pastor. Since its inception two years ago, this second location has been reaching the burgeoning U.S. Highway 380 Corridor. Prestonwood North currently meets for Sunday service at Prosper High School and is scheduled to move this fall to its permanent location on 127 acres on Prosper Trail, just west of the school.

Marc and Lindsay and their young sons, Graham and Cole, live in Frisco.
