My favorite character in the Bible is:

Jesus ( Oh, you probably wanted me to pick someone else ... If so, David.  I have been on a 5 -year process of studying his life. His life's verse has to be Psalm 34:17-19.)

My life verse is:
Matthew 22:34-40

If I could ask God one question, it would be:
Why have you always been so good to me?

Nobody knows that I:
Was the club golf pro at Alpine Golf Course in central Louisiana for a few months

I'm happiest when:
I am with Linda or in a tree with my bow and Bible

On my iPod:
People probably think I have Southern Gospel music. I generally do not like Southern Gospel.

The one book (besides the Bible) I'd recommend to anyone is:
The Life of David by A.W.Pink or any of John Maxwell's books on leadership

My last meal would be:
Lobster (or Chilean sea bass) and ribeye steak from Chamberlain's, with their lettuce wedge and hot, creamy bacon dressing and their mashed potatoes and the caramelized flan for dessert

I'm most excited about:
What God is doing at Prestonwood, the young leaders the Pastor is putting in place and the old guys who love the Lord and have remained faithful and on track ... plus so many young and median-aged adults who are deeply in love with Jesus

My trademark expression is:
Either “Son” or “Let me tell you a story”

The team I root for most is:
Oklahoma Sooners and New York Yankees

My proudest moment is:
While a businessman with ServiceMaster Industries I was chosen as the youngest man ever to be promoted to regional and area manager (this was extremely humbling. ) When Caleb (younger son) was chosen as the athlete to be written about in the Arkansas Athletes Outreach magazine on the page next to the top Christian community leader Frank Broyles, and when Ryan finished fourth  in a national pro-life address competition

If I could, I'd:
Become the father to every fatherless boy in America and the world

The one blog I read regularly is:
Jack

I could eat:
Linda's hot chocolate-chip cookies and cold “whole” milk any time

My pet peeve is:
When Christians say, “I wish I knew how to study the Bible.”  I want to say, “Go get it, get alone and quiet, ask the Holy Spirit to give you a revelatory spirit and go for it .” ( A couple of good commentaries and a notepad would help, too.)

My perfect day would be:
To get up and get a good cup of coffee, sit in my recliner near the fireplace with the Bible and just read. Then, after about two hours, just  sit and fellowship with the Savior; get Linda and go do whatever she wants to do; then go share with someone about the goodness of God; and late in the day go to my friend's farm and hunt or fish.

My favorite childhood memory is:
Going to hunting camp at Thanksgiving with my dad and his four brothers and family and friends and watching the uncles have shooting contests, or being in the kitchen when mom was cooking

In my free time, I:
Love to read great Christian books and I love to deer hunt

If I could do it over again I'd:
Take back any harmful words I have said to Linda

My favorite TV show is:
Jim Shockey Outdoors or Realtree Roadtrips

Three people I would want to have a meal with:
A) Linda  B) Our family (the boys, their wives and the grandchildren) C) My mom, dad and sister

I would spend $1,000:
Tithe $120; give PowerPoint $200; buy Linda something nice ($400); take Ryan and Caleb on guided hunting/fishing trip ($280)
