Josh Green
Piano
Born and raised here in the DFW area, Josh Green began piano studies at the age of 6. He became involved in local piano competitions as well as ministry in his home church throughout his junior high and high school years. He received his bachelor of music degree in piano performance, magna cum laude, from Dallas Baptist University. While studying there, he served as a vocal accompanist, in addition to accompanying one of the university’s choral ensembles. Mr. Green holds a master of music degree in church music with a concentration in piano pedagogy from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During his time at SWBTS, he was the recipient of the Wayne “Polly” McNeely Piano Award and served as a graduate assistant in piano. He has participated in numerous master classes and workshops given by such artists/pedagogues as Harold Martina, Carolyn True, Jane Magrath, Melody Bober, Suzanne Guy and Sheila Paige.
In addition to teaching at Prestonwood, Mr. Green is an adjunct professor in the College of Fine Arts at Dallas Baptist University. He also continues to remain active as a church musician as well as a freelance solo performer and accompanist throughout the DFW area.
Teaching is something about which Mr. Green is very passionate. Having taught in various area music academies, he has multiple years of experience with individuals of all ages and abilities. He is a patient person whose fun, yet focused, teaching style is appealing to students of all ages and levels. His desire is to develop a strong relationship with each student, through which he can foster in them a love and enjoyment for music making and the pursuit of personalized musical goals, all with the ultimate aim to bring glory to God through their personal expression and sharing of music with others.
Mr. Green enjoys reading and spending time with his amazing wife, Michelle.
Robert McDonald
Piano
Robert McDonald is a recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music, earning his bachelor of music degree in piano performance studying with Dr. Douglas Humpherys. He is a native of Dallas, where he began lessons with his mother, Marcy McDonald. Other teachers of note include Samuel Wong, Julian Martin, Dr. Carol Leone, John Owings and Robert McDonald of the Juilliard School. In addition to studying the solo piano repertoire, Robert is an advocate of collaborative and chamber music. In his senior year at Eastman, he was a prizewinner in the Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition, the only undergraduate student to receive an award.
Andrea Russo
Piano
Andrea began studying piano at age 5 and violin at 9, receiving pre-college music instruction at Butler University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Oberlin Conservatory, where she also began teaching. Through her work with Oberlin’s Piano Lab outreach program, she was awarded the 2005 Music Teachers National Association’s STAR teaching award. Andrea received her graduate performance degree in 2007 from Indiana University, where she also taught through the school’s Young Pianists Program.
Active in the summers, Andrea has served as a performer, counselor, and mentor to young music students at Brevard Music Center, Indiana University’s Piano Academy and Credo Christian Chamber Music Program.
In addition to teaching at Prestonwood, Andrea maintains a piano studio in Dallas, serves as the pianist at Casa View Baptist Church, and is an accompanist to music students at Southern Methodist University. Andrea is a versatile member of the European Ensemble, performing piano and violin for weddings and events throughout the Metroplex.
Andrea’s teaching style is focused and upbeat, with fast-paced and enthusiastic lessons. She enjoys helping people of all ages express themselves through playing piano, and strives to learn from her students as well.
