Prestonwood’s institutional history stretches back only
30 years or so, but the heart of this church began pumping
the moment Christianity was conceived.
Our DNA springs from the great sacrifice of our Lord
and Savior on the cross at Calvary, the foundational
truth of our faith.
"The DNA of the church, the DNA of Prestonwood, is the blood of Jesus Christ..."
“The DNA of the church, the DNA of Prestonwood, is the blood of
Jesus Christ,” Pastor Jack Graham said. “His DNA is flowing in us,
and we are blood kin in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
His blood, spilled to wash away the sins of mankind, brings salvation
to all who would believe. Jesus’ death and resurrection was fresh
and familiar to the very early church, and His followers passionately
spread the Good News of salvation. The passing millennia have done
nothing to erode the power of the message.
In the second chapter of Acts, Luke describes the power of
God’s Holy Spirit and the ways it moved among the multitudes
in Jerusalem. And in the midst of those powerful works,
Luke tells of the birth of the Church, The Fellowship of
the Believers, the same fellowship we see today at
Prestonwood, Pastor Graham said.
Too often, the contemporary church abandons that
model of evangelism and service, which explains why
so many churches struggle to survive. But churches
that carry on the work of Jesus to save and serve
remain healthy and vibrant. And just as Prestonwood
has done in launching the North Campus in Prosper,
these churches reproduce themselves.
The earliest Christians faced death for their beliefs, but they
didn’t allow the world to change them, Pastor Graham said.
“They turned the world upside down,” he said, “and the
principles we find in the church then are the same
principles we should see in the church today.”
Prestonwood shares its DNA with the whole body of
believers, with all the saints who have found salvation in Jesus Christ. But at the same time, Prestonwood is unique, a
reflection of the personality of its people, because that’s where the
DNA resides—in the heart and faith of the congregation.
Prestonwood is One Church, One Heart, One Mission.
Whether it is in our region or beyond, reaching out to bring the
abiding love of Jesus to all who need Him, fills the hearts
of so many at Prestonwood. Some serve in the mission
fields. Others have built their own ministries. All have
responded to the call of God in their lives, Pastor
Graham said. “God is calling His people today, just
as He called people in the Scriptures,” he said.
“He calls people to serve Him. And we invite
people, we urge people to hear God’s call and
to do His will in their lives.”
