Jim and Kaye Johns readily admit that they were not walking with the Lord when they came to Prestonwood
in 1988. But they grew deep roots here while being spiritually transformed through Bible studies and the
Prayer Ministry.
Jim and Kaye felt God calling them out of their professional careers and into the ministry.
In 1994, they started PrayerPower Ministries, born out of their rebirth at Prestonwood. Since then, they have traveled
the world conducting prayer conferences and retreats in churches in America, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Prestonwood has also been blessed by the ministry. Jim and Kaye have led the church in focused, in-depth prayer using
quarterly Prayer Journals and Prayer Guides they created.
“God is using all of this to help Prestonwood become a people of prayer,” Jim
said, “for which many of us have been praying for many years.”
Bud McGinnis
Man to Man Ministries (Plano, Texas)
Bud McGinnis and his wife Paula are familiar faces at Prestonwood. For two decades, Bud has taught young couples and has served as a deacon. Years
ago Bud considered himself a good, church-going Christian. The call of God
on his life came through a challenging question from a missionary from Africa:
“Where are your disciples?”
Christ’s command to “make disciples of all nations” became Bud’s passion.
“Jesus said to go out and make disciples, not church goers,” Bud said. “The
man who discipled me showed me how to have a constant, consistent and
victorious quiet time with the Lord. This is what changes peoples’ lives, and so that’s what I pass on.”
Bud established Man to Man Ministries for the purpose of discipleship and accountability. He also assisted the Men’s
Ministry in forming Project Timothy, true to the discipleship model demonstrated by the Apostle Paul and Timothy. In
addition, he leads numerous men’s Bible studies throughout the week at Prestonwood and at places of business.
In 17 years, hundreds have been challenged through Project Timothy and Man to Man, and many lives have been
changed.
Each year, Bud invites Man to Man participants and their wives to a banquet.
“Through the powerful testimonies of the women, people see that things are changing,” Bud said, “because husbands
are putting God first—in the family and in the workplace.”
