It was a vision God placed in the hearts of
leaders at Prestonwood, and on a beautiful
June morning the dream was fulfilled as the
church family broke ground on the Saunders
Children’s Building.
Named after Sondra Saunders, Senior Children’s Minister for nearly three
decades, the building will allow for more space to reach the thousands of
children who come to Prestonwood on any given week. It will also provide
dedicated space to special needs, a ministry that has tripled over the last two
years.
“When we began thinking about this building, we said, ‘We should put Sondra’s
name as a lasting legacy, a living remembrance of the ministry of this wonderful
servant of Christ who has given hour after hour and year after year to serve God,’”
said Pastor Jack Graham. “Thousands of kids have come to Christ because of the
witness and influence of Sondra Saunders.”
Sondra said she was excited and humbled to have the building named after her.
“I am so grateful,” she said. “I have said over the years, Prestonwood has done far more
for me than I have ever done for Prestonwood…I am so very grateful having the
privilege of seeing us build another building that is going to be a tool to meet many,
many other children in the next generation.
“Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”
