Standing Firm in a
ShiftingWORLD
|
|
It’s fascinating and exciting to consider the life of a vibrant
church like Prestonwood, built on the infallible, eternal Word of
God, yet operating in a world that never stands still. So we grow
constantly, standing firm on the solid rock of Scripture as we
apply it to an ever-shifting culture.
For some, dealing with change is a personal undertaking,
yet it touches many.
My great friend Zig Ziglar, who has served Prestonwood
so wonderfully for all these years as teacher of the Encouragers
Class, takes on a new role this new year as class host. Gracious as
ever and dedicated to the truth of the Bible, he remains a blessing
to all who know him.
Our outreach to the community brings more and more
people to salvation in Christ, and we see the results all around
us, notably in our growing Singles Ministry, on many Sundays a
standing-room-only crowd in the Upper School at Prestonwood
Christian Academy. We praise God for that blessing.
In just six months, Prestonwood North has touched many
hundreds of lives and created special bonds of community. This
year we look toward one of the great blessings to come from Beyond
All Limits as we continue to move forward with plans: for
a much-needed children’s building to help shape future generations;
a North Campus that will help reach a region of our state
that is exploding with growth; and the upgrading of broadcast
equipment that will help reach the nations with the Word of
God.
Beyond All Limits continues to touch the hearts and lives of
our members.
As the world around us sinks ever deeper into immorality,
the sanctity of life devalued, God’s eternal truths ignored, we
find ourselves in a battle for our children. With the Internet,
sexualization of our culture, availability of drugs and alcohol,
our students face perhaps the greatest social challenges of any
generation.
Yet, I see a bright flag of hope. I see great commitment in
this rising generation, standing firm for Christ. These kids truly
have the chance to be the next great generation in America if
they know Jesus and follow God’s wisdom for their lives.
So we declare this “The Year of the Student.” We want to
bring together the whole body of Christ to raise up this generation
as fiery followers of Jesus.
The challenges stand before us. So we seek God’s will and
dedicate ourselves to being His people, firm in a shifting world.
