It began as a heart cry from Pastor Jack Graham for the Prestonwood family to join in the fight for our students who are battling the fiercest of opponents—today’s ever-decaying culture. He challenged members in February to embrace the Student Ministry, and they responded faithfully to Generation Now— The Year of the Student. Some have given of their time through volunteering, others have provided support through finances, and still others have done it through prayer.

As we consider the effects of this church-wide emphasis, the true blessing is evidenced in the testimonies of those whose lives have been touched.

Sixteen-year-old Brittany Carter rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized in the Gulf of Mexico. But this life-transforming week where she made the decision that will impact her eternally might not have occurred were it not for Generation Now. “I really needed to go to Beach Camp, and it was difficult timing for my family,” Brittany said. “Without the scholarship, I wouldn’t have been able to go and I’d still be searching for that closeness with Christ that I now have.”

Adults have been equally blessed.

“When Pastor Graham made Generation Now a focus, it was a confirmation to the calling I had been feeling,” said John Muzyka, who leads a table group of freshman boys. “The Lord not only convicted my heart, but He laid the calling right in front of me with the declaration of Generation Now.”

Minister to Students Chris Lovell said this year has surpassed all expectations.

“We are so thankful to have a pastor and a church body who love our students and are willing to provide the finances, prayer support and the manpower to reach them for Christ,” Chris said. Who would have thought that more than 100 students would receive scholarships to attend Beach Camp or that we’d see 100 new leaders and volunteers participate in Student Ministry events? This is a ‘God-thing’ that has started and will continue for years to come because of Generation Now.”
