Imagine a gift so exquisitely wrapped
that you’re certain its
recipient must be very special. Now imagine the beautiful, praiseful voices
of children and adults rising from the box as the gift is opened.
This Christmas season, as we celebrate the Greatest Gift—our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ—our gift to Him is the gift of worship.
Throughout the month of December, beginning with Prestonwood Lights
and closing with our Christmas Eve Candlelight Services, worship is our
response to the gift we have received from God, said Minister of Music and
Worship Todd Bell.
“All of the Christmas experiences at Prestonwood centralize Jesus as the
focus of what Christmas is really all about,” Todd said. “He is hope; He is life;
He is peace; He is Emmanuel, God with us.”
A 400-voice student choir will usher in the Christmas
season with Prestonwood Lights. Hugely successful last
year, the 30-minute tree lighting and worship event is
reminiscent of an old-fashioned, Main Street Christmas
experience complete with hot chocolate.
The Children’s Ministry follows with the return of a church
favorite—Dinner in Bethlehem. This special evening for
families with preschool, elementary and special needs
children and adults, includes a catered dinner, a live
nativity, an angel’s perspective on the Christmas story,
and a great time of worship led by families themselves.
“Children love having the Christmas Story come to life,”
said Diana Pendley, Minister of Children. “It helps them
remember all month long what the season is all about.”
And back by popular demand, Gloria...A Christmas
Worship Experience will be the highlight of the season.
This interactive evening viewed by countless last year on
national TV will feature music, dance, special effects and
multimedia.
Our Plano and North Campus families will combine for
many of the events. The North Campus will also offer
other special presentations including a Gloria “prelude
concert” and a Down Home Texas Christmas concert.
“Christmas worship at the North Campus will be unique
and exciting this year,” said Worship Minister Chris
Machen. “We have an eclectic mix of worship events that
will help us focus on the true meaning of Christmas.”
And on Christmas Eve, we’ll come together again to
celebrate the Greatest Gift ever received. We’ll lift our
candles, each one of us a “light of Christ” in a dark world,
and we’ll raise our voices in worship—our gift to Him.
