Little Things Mean a Lot

Scott and Beth Anderson were certainly not new to church when they came to Prestonwood North. But this new church home quickly became refreshing and revitalizing.

“We went to the same church for almost eight years,” Scott said, “and that was our first experience getting involved as adults with a finance committee, youth, missions, and working in the nursery. We now see how things are done the right way.”

While still members of another church, the Andersons were invited by friends to visit Prestonwood North. Because they still had commitments to fulfill before they could begin the search for a new church, they waited before looking.

“Our main priority was to have our kids attend church with kids they will be going to school with.” Scott said of their two boys, 5-year-old Luke and 2-year-old Jake.

Having grown up in a small town where everybody knows everybody, the Andersons were also concerned about getting lost in a big church. They thought it would be overwhelming. But they were pleasantly surprised when they attended for the first time.

“Everyone made us feel at home,” Scott said. “Beth and I talked about how it seems that everyone remembers us, from the lady who helps get you set up so you can drop your kids off, to the new minister and most everyone in between.”

After a couple of visits, they knew Prestonwood North would be their church home.

With their new home church came a stronger desire for a closer relationship with Christ.

“I have never been one to take notes in church, but now I do,” Scott said. “I have never been one to talk to others about God but I found a need to talk with my grandfather as he lay in his bed at Plano Presbyterian. I have been working on the guy next to me at work. The whole experience has given me the kick in the pants that I needed, and it started off with the small things that people do in church—like remembering you from the week before.

“We have been so impressed with the whole experience,” Scott said. “We feel like we have found a home, and we look forward to getting more people to come.”
